Pamela Penn-Hicks

About

Pamela is the proud daughter of USAF Major Percy Penn and Jeanne Penn, RN.

Graduates of Tuskegee institute and K-State, they shared the value of learning with their six children.

Pamela graduated from Hayden High School in Topeka, attended Duke University studying pre-med and graduated from KU with a bachelor’s degree in psychology.

Pamela moved to KCK with her son Jourdan and daughter Khalila in 1983. Her commitment and advocacy for quality education in USD 500 that began with support for her own children, has now evolved to include her great-grandchildren.

Pamela retired from a 38 year career with the US Postal Service and union membership with the APWU.

Throughout her time in KCK, Pamela has advocated to improve our community by working with various grassroots and government entities. Her focus has been on resolving neighborhood, youth and governance issues. She has served on numerous task forces and boards, bringing a community voice and vision determined to find solutions to our community’s most pressing challenges.

All of our students deserve academic success. Achieving their potential with the support and involvement of parents and community will be the foundation of Pamela’s service as a school board member.
