Graduation Transition
The KCKPS Diploma+ College and Career Readiness team embarked on an 8th-grade Transition support initiative this spring. The goal was to ensure each 8th-grade student had information about upcoming opportunities within Career and Technical Education (CTE), Work-Based Learning, and Dual/Concurrent programming at their high schools and the connections to their Individual Plans of Study. The Diploma+ team worked with each Middle School to schedule presentations for the 8th-grade Family Advocacy classes. Team members were deployed to classrooms to help facilitate a presentation filled with information on opportunities. Students engaged in dialogue around the presentations and saw examples of courses offered within their high schools. Students also utilized their Xello account to see the alignment of their interests’ goals and opportunities at their high school.
