How decisions are made
Weather decisions are never made by one person or based on a single forecast. Our process includes:
- Monitoring multiple weather sources and professional advisors
- Having district teams out early checking roads in real time across different parts of the city
- Coordinating directly with the Unified Government (UG) about road conditions and treatment plans
- Collaborating with surrounding school districts to compare conditions and decisions
We weigh the timing and intensity of predicted snow, temperatures, visibility, and the safety of both neighborhood streets and main routes. We do this because students and staff travel from every direction and under very different conditions.
