Crews Continue Work on New Argentine Middle & Woodland Hills Elementary Schools - September 9, 2026

The project for the new Argentine Middle School and Woodland Hills Elementary School is currently in the site-preparation phase.
On the campus where J.C. Harmon High School is located, crews are clearing the property and moving large amounts of soil to shape and stabilize the ground for the buildings, roads, parking areas, and drainage systems that will be constructed later.
In simple terms, they’re getting the land ready to build on…
Right now crews are:
- Clearing and grubbing: Removing trees, stumps, roots, brush, and other vegetation.
- Grading: Moving soil around to create the correct elevations and slopes for the future building, parking areas, roads, and drainage.
- Excavation and filling: Digging out areas that need to be lower and bringing in or relocating soil where the ground needs to be raised.
- Preparing the foundation: Getting the soil compacted and stable enough to support the building and other improvements.
- Stormwater/drainage preparation: Shaping the site so rainwater will flow where it's supposed to rather than toward buildings or neighboring properties.
