Future Educators Get a Peek at Life Inside KCKPS

The journey to becoming a teacher starts with learning where great things happen.
On Tuesday, October 27, student-teachers took a special tour of Kansas City, Kansas Public Schools, visiting schools and early childhood centers across the district.
Members of the KCKPS Human Resources Department guided the group on visits to a high school, a middle school, an elementary school, and two early childhood centers.
When student-teachers arrived at Carl B. Bruce Middle School, a group of student-ambassadors took over. The 7th and 8th-grade students guided their guests throughout the building, sharing some of the great things taking place there.
Throughout the tour, student-teachers had opportunities to step into classrooms, observe learning in action, and experience the unique strengths of KCKPS schools firsthand.
The goal was to help these future educators become familiar with the district’s schools, explore the learning environments they may one day teach in, and gain valuable insight as they prepare to launch their teaching careers.
“By opening its doors to aspiring teachers, KCKPS is helping build connections, showcase the opportunities available across the district, and welcome the next generation of educators who may soon make a difference in the lives of students throughout the community,” said Assistant Director of Human Resources- Recruitment Dr. Marica Rhone.
