A high school diploma is not enough, in today’s economy, for students to access high-pay, high-demand jobs that transform their lives and their community.
In order to address this growing need, Kansas City, Kansas Public Schools implemented a district-wide initiative that ensures every KCKPS student graduates with a standard high school diploma and more: a Diploma+.
Diploma+ pairs a standard high school diploma with one of seven college- or career-readiness endorsements, demonstrating a student’s success in earning verified real-world experience, credentials, or college credits. The Diploma+ program implements curriculum and instruction across all grade levels, implementing career awareness programming, field trips, college and career exploration, job-site visits, Career & Technical Education (CTE) pathways, and Work-Based Learning (WBL). Diploma+ means each student in KCKPS will graduate high school prepared for college and careers in a global society, and at every level, each student's performance is on-track and on-time for success.
