Washington High School Football Player Cam’ron Fields Named KSHB Hy-vee Athlete of the Week

After delivering a dominant performance in the playoffs, Washington High School senior running back Cam’ron Fields has earned another reason to celebrate. His standout effort landed him the KSHB Hy-Vee Athlete of the Week honor.
On Tuesday, November 3, KSHB sports reporter Matt Foster visited Washington High School to record the announcement recognizing Fields for the achievement. Washington head football coach Camron Smith presented Fields with the award.
The recognition came less than a week after Fields delivered the performance of his life. In Washington’s playoff victory over Blue Valley Southwest, Fields rushed for 181 yards and three touchdowns while adding another 103 receiving yards.
In dramatic fashion, Fields scored with just 22 seconds remaining to help secure a 42-35 victory over Blue Valley Southwest. The win marked Washington's first-ever playoff victory.
It came as no surprise that Fields would put up such huge numbers in a game. Over the course of the season, he has racked up over 1,000 receiving yards, 14 receiving touchdowns, and 7 rushing touchdowns.
Fields has accumulated 21 total touchdowns making him one of the most explosive players in Kansas.
We’re very proud of Fields.
