KCKPS to Adjust Outdoor Sport Activities Due to the Extreme Heat

Due to the extreme heat impacting the Kansas City community, KCKPS has made adjustments to all upcoming outdoor sports activities to help ensure the safety and well-being of our student-athletes.

  • High school: Varsity-only outdoor contests at or after 7 p.m. All activities are subject to onsite Wet Bulb Globe Temperature (WBGT) readings and KSHSAA guidelines.
  • Friday, Sept. 4: Varsity football games will begin at 8 p.m.
  • Middle school: Outdoor afternoon activities are cancelled for the remainder of the week.
  • Morning practices are highly recommended for all teams. 
  • Saturday, Sept. 5: Middle and high school practices must be completed by 12 p.m.

Student-athlete safety remains our top priority.
