Early Childhood/Head Start

We are currently taking applications for the 2024-2025 school year. Please call 913-627-5257 to make your appointment.

These are the items you will need to apply:

  • State Issued Birth Certificate or I-94
  • Proof of Address (anything within the last 30 days as long as it’s not junk mail, with the Parent’s name on it)
  • Proof of Income (12 months of income for any parent of the child in the home)
  • Current Physical (within the last 12 months; hasn’t expired) with lead and hemoglobin numeric results
  • Immunizations / Shot Record
  • Current Dental (within the last 6 months; hasn’t expired)
  • Photo ID of Parent (if current Driver’s License could be used for Proof of Address as well)
  • Photo of Child Applying

Head Start:

  • Serves 3 and 4 year olds (by 8/31/22 for current school year and 8/31/23 for 23-24 school year that starts in the Fall)
  • Also serves Turner and Piper School Districts
  • Half Day and Full Day
  • Parent Meetings
  • Family Service Worker support
  • Home Visits
  • Criteria set by the Federal Government
  • Income based
  • Must meet federal poverty guidelines

State Pre-K

SPARK

  • Serves 3 and 4 years old (by 8/31/22 for current school year and 8/31/23 for 23-24 school year that starts in the Fall)
  • Must reside in identified boundaries of Wyandotte/Harmon (south and east part of KCK)
  • Full-day
  • Parent Conferences
