A Young Artist's Stellar Achievement: Seth Clayborne from Silver City Elementary School Shines at th

Visitors to the Topeka Shawnee County Library in Topeka, Kansas were treated to the celebrated artwork of Seth Clayborne, a 3rd grade student at Silver City Elementary School.

His artwork, Cut Paper Planet, was selected to represent Silver City in the prestigious 2025 Youth Month Exhibit.
Here is an excerpt from Seth’s artist statement he attached to his artwork.
“I like to draw spaceships with pens. I made a star and a meteor, and I made aliens look like they are jumping. I like to watch art videos and use art supplies I received for Christmas.”

Each year, the art exhibit in Topeka celebrates Youth Art Month by showcasing the creativity of young artists from students throughout the state of Kansas. “His artwork was on display for an entire month, and we are so very proud of him,” said Silver City Principal Zaneta Boles.
Seth’s art teacher, Karen Folk, is also impressed with his talent. “Seth is one of those kids who is calm, stays on task, works hard, and never gives up,” she shared. “I try to teach basic skills and allow room for creative interpretation, and Seth really had fun with the outer space projects.”
The class recently studied the famous outer space-themed artwork by Vincent Van Gogh, whose cosmic swirls and vibrant colors provided inspiration.
Congratulations to Mr. Seth.
