Enough is Enough
Following the tragic deaths of 18 students throughout the 2019-2020 school year, members of Kansas City, Kansas Public Schools decided it was time to raise awareness to the issues facing not only our youth, but our entire community.
In October of 2020, the Enough is Enough initiative was launched with the goal of bringing awareness to gun violence and mental health in the KCKPS community. The program focuses on educating students and their families about these serious issues and how we can all work together to ensure every child is able to learn, grow, and live safely.
Together, we are declaring Enough is Enough. Save our kids. Save our community.
Program History
Launching back in October of 2020, Enough is Enough brings awareness to the issue of violence and its prevention. During the 2019-2020 school year, the KCKPS community lost 18 students. While not all of the deaths were caused by gun violence, a majority of them involved incidents that could have been avoided.
In addition to the growing concern around gun violence is the growing problem of substance abuse, both nationwide and here in Wyandotte County. This initiative is focused around addressing issues head on by understanding the problem, getting educated on the issues, knowing what resources are available, and not being afraid to ask for help or speak up when someone needs assistance.
The mission of the program is evolving every day as more members from the community, parents, students, and the district continue to work hand in hand to find effective, practical solutions.
