Family and Community Engagement
The Family and Community Engagement Department (FACE) is part of the Division of Student Services and Family Support and works to strengthen the connection between families, schools, and the community. FACE helps ensure that every student in Kansas City, Kansas Public Schools has the support they need to succeed by providing families with personalized guidance, access to resources, and meaningful opportunities to get involved.
FACE oversees the district’s Family and Community Engagement Specialists, who work directly with schools to build strong partnerships with families and promote student success. The department also manages Attend to Achieve, a district-wide initiative that supports consistent student attendance through outreach, education, and family engagement.
A major part of FACE’s work includes operating the Welcome Center, where families receive hands-on assistance with school registration, enrollment, and access to district and community resources. The Welcome Center serves as a key connection point between families and departments such as Student Support Programs, Multilingual Education & Services, and Health Services—ensuring a smooth start to every student’s KCKPS journey.
Together, FACE and its programs reflect KCKPS’s commitment to building trust, strengthening relationships, and ensuring families feel valued, informed, and empowered.
